Mixed day for Charlotte stocks Charlotte stocks had mixed results in Tuesday’s trading.
The Cato Corp. showed the largest percentage gain in value at 2.5 percent. The Charlotte-based retailer (NYSE:CATO) closed at $29.18, up 70 cents. And Speedway Motorsports Inc. (NYSE:TRK) led the losses, dipping 2.7 percent, or 45 cents, to close at $16.55.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 33 points, ending the day at 12,783.

DCE is a unit of DC Electronics of Britain. It recently began production in Talbert Pointe Business Park and plans a full staff of 10 employees within two years.
Robert Carney, executive director of the Mooresville-South Iredell Economic Development Corp., says he expects the operation to become much larger in the near future.

Aldi, a Batavia, Ill.-based subsidiary of Germany's Aldi Group, plans to open a new store at 1507 New Garden Road sometime in 2013, according to a spokesman for the company.
Aldi bills itself as a super-discount chain with a no-frills approach and a limited selection of 1,400 items. The company already has 10 stores in the Triad located in Asheboro, Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Kernersville, Lexington, Thomasville and Winston-Salem.
The new Aldi store comes at a time when the landscape among grocers in the Triad is becoming increasingly competitive...

The Charlotte Hounds’ inaugural season home opener on April 28 will be broadcast on WMYT-TV, followed by five additional away games throughout the season. The team’s season-ending home game also will be broadcast.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The broadcast-channel deal is a first for the league as well. In the past, Major League Lacrosse games have been available only on sports networks and cable channels...
Tue, 07 Feb 2012 19:37:45 +0000 Piedmont Natural Gas wants to build pipeline across PSNC territory Piedmont Natural Gas has asked N.C. regulators for permission to build about 8 miles of a 133-mile pipeline through the service area of PSNC Energy.
The $217 million pipeline is being built to serve Progress Energy’s proposed 600-megawatt Sutton Combined Cycle Station near Wilmington. Piedmont says it will not allow any public service to the pipeline through the PSNC area, so Piedmont will not infringe on PSNC’s service area.
The new construction will start in southern Iredell County. It will cross in and out of parts of PSNC’s service area in Iredell, northern Mecklenburg and western Cabarrus counties...

Matherly, executive director of the Lincoln Economic Development Association, starts at the Greater Richmond Partnership on March 1. His last day in the Charlotte area is Feb. 29.
